In 2025, human development outcomes improved through strengthened Protection, health, education, nutrition, and social systems that expanded equitable access to quality services. Health systems became more resilient and responsive, with improved continuity of care across community and facility levels, strengthened emergency preparedness, and enhanced access to essential medicines and services. Integrated investments across maternal, child, adolescent health and nutrition contributed to reduced vulnerability among high risk populations.

Education, protection, and social inclusion outcomes were also strengthened. Improved learning systems, early childhood development, and digital transformation enhanced education quality and inclusion, while expanded school feeding and nutrition systems supported better learning and wellbeing. At the same time, stronger protection systems advanced survivor centred responses to violence, improved legal identity coverage, disability inclusion, and youth participation. Together, these outcomes strengthened community resilience, social cohesion, and the protection of the most vulnerable.

STORIES OF CHANGE - MUKANGA NGATUPETUKE

Click here to read how Mukanga Ngatupetuke, a 24 year old mother in the Kunene Region, is overcoming cultural and economic barriers to complete her education. With support from the United Nations Population Fund and the Government of Namibia, young women in indigenous, semi-nomadic communities are accessing the resources needed to return to school after pregnancy. Mukanga, who gave birth at age 22, initially feared her academic journey had ended, but Namibia’s Policy for the Prevention and Management of Learner Pregnancy and the dedicated support of her 84 year old mother, Tjisunga Muukubande, provided a vital second chance.

The intervention by UNFPA focuses on reducing unintended pregnancies by training teachers to provide life skills based health education and equipping healthcare workers to offer adolescent friendly reproductive services. In addition to academic support and counseling from Omuhonga Combined School, Mukanga now uses long acting reversible contraceptives to ensure she can focus on her studies without the risk of another unintended pregnancy. These efforts address the interconnected challenges of child marriage and patriarchal traditions that often force girls to drop out of school. By fostering a supportive environment at home and in the classroom and community, the project helps young women like Mukanga transition from vulnerability to a path of self reliance and a better future for their children.
