In 2025, Namibia strengthened the foundations of effective, transparent, and evidence-based governance. National institutions demonstrated improved capacity to generate, integrate, and use high-quality data for planning, budgeting, monitoring, and policy formulation across sectors. Enhanced national data ecosystems, digital public infrastructure, and interoperable information systems enabled more coherent decision making and strengthened alignment between national priorities, public expenditure, and development results.

Governance outcomes were further reinforced through improved integrity, accountability, and inclusion. Strengthened ethical standards, anti-corruption frameworks, parliamentary oversight, and participatory policy processes expanded civic space and public trust. Inclusive digital governance, legal identity systems, and regional cooperation mechanisms positioned institutions to respond more effectively to emerging risks, technological change, and climate related shocks, contributing to more responsive, resilient, and citizen centred public service delivery.

With support from the United Nations Population Fund, the 25 year old from Nkurenkuru joined the Youth Advisory Panel to ensure that national priorities around sexual reproductive health and gender equality are inclusive. Jakko, who has albinism, spent much of his life facing stigma and insensitive questions, but he chose to use his lived experience to challenge the assumption that persons with disabilities are incapable or fragile.

The Youth Advisory Panel serves as a critical platform for representation, allowing members like Jakko to influence how programs are designed at a national level. He advocates for disability inclusive policies that address essential needs such as access to education, employment, and specialized healthcare like eye care and sunscreen. By occupying a seat at the table, Jakko aims to normalize the presence of leaders with disabilities and ensure they have access to vital information regarding their bodies and rights. His journey demonstrates that providing opportunities for visibility can transform personal advocacy into systemic change for all young Namibians.
